Everything about my work

Art is always relative, has a certain uniqueness to the eye of the beholder, and as they say, a painter paints what they see, feel and think.

In a way my pictures are a reflection of my soul, inspired from the sources of my life and impressed by my fascination for detail.

Portraits my passion

My greatest passion is portraits, people as diverse as life itself.

It is less about just to copy a photo - and I'm much more anxious that the soul and essence of that which I converse to paper or canvas conjures up an image given life.

A single photo is never enough. I need to feel that I "know" the person. This means I must somehow study the facial expressions and gestures, have an understanding of 'People' physiology but also a kind of psychology, which will transform a two dimensional picture to life.

Even with my contract work it's mostly not possible to meet those persons, to talk with them and to study. Multiple photos in various situations are here more helpful to get a 'feel' for the subject.

What else is part of my skills?

Of course I do not just draw & paint portraits or star portraits.

Also nude, animals, landscapes, still life, flowers, cartoons or illustrations I do.

No matter if design for books, magazins, calendars, greeting cards or for your home, office, waiting rooms or kindergartens - all form part of my resumé.

I also create for different types of media, be it music CD covers and artwork or similar.

My imagination knows no bounds.

Materials, Colours & Co

I use many different types of materials for my art: charcoal, pastel and other chalks, aquarelle colours, acrylic and oil.

I also draw with gel pens, crayons, pencil and ink.

All colours are of the highest quality, genuine artist materials with light fast colours. That means they are protected from UV light and you will much longer enjoy ur painting with the same brilliant colours.

The same for drawings.

I finish every drawing with a spray that not only keeps the charcoal on paper (and not on your fingers)...it also protects the paper and charcoal or any other colour from UV light.

I tried different artist fix sprays and must say a good quality UV-protect hairspray is better than any artist fix sprays and does the same job. You can touch at the drawing and you will have clean fingers after and nothing destroy the artwork by touching (thats not sure with all fix sprays).

I draw & paint always on high quality aquarelle paper (plain or structured with a strength of 190g / m² that your painting is more safe from buckles and also aquarelle paintings are safed from curled paper), cardboard (including coloured), hardboard, artist canvas, as well as many other suitable materials.
